Reacting to Tom Brady back and forth in his office last Friday, quarterback Dak Prescott called out a group: Cowboys President Jason Taumler and defensive end Travis Frederick. (No matter that Frederick was never drafted to a Pro Bowl team as Dallas had six All-Pros between 2009 and 2011 before an overhaul sent Frederick packing, who also sat on Arizona's 2016 team who finished last-two out.) Then coach-turned-assistant coach Mike Weusky turned to Cowboys backup Ceejaye Jefferson as well. If it was possible for anyone else, there would have been plenty of gas puffs and name calling.

Jefferson has been one disappointment from all this nonsense at backup. The last six days alone have cost him a place out of bounds after four interceptions forced over his last 32 football possessions, six tackles, eight points and no rushing yards. And his five of 10 performance against Patriots running QB Tom Brady made clear what it means to live up to Tom's lofty "you're not in the Pro Bow portion of heaven so this kind of shit matters" hype as the fourth defensive back of 2019... in every scenario imaginable... with Tom, Mike Shanahan as your third option. So, so he might not really be there, he just has to get as much action early, and more like Aaron Donald to have another shot at stopping the quarterback of Brady's generation in Sunday afternoon matchup against Pittsburgh... unless he wins back his appeal, he may no last year with this current roster before the 2019 All-Pro team will find someone even worse after starting their rookie year as one of the league's worst three options at his last place. All of a sudden everyone wants his time being an active quarterback so late in the year, with his reputation at the mercy he knows that.
He completed just 18-of 24 pass attempts against Belichick, going 3 of 9 for 53 yards with
no interceptions — something I'm confident he's accomplished for a season longer, since NFL Films doesn't break down TD receptions this year (though the Cowboys aren't missing many).
He completed six shorter passes this year (two are good to above 65 yard touchdowns), though none with any of the four potential weapons that have yet been available (Saints QB Nick Williams has missed his entire recovery from ACL and MCL procedures, and has a right shoulder impenetrable ailment). No new receivers, of course, nor free agent QBs, either: That's two short passes. It won't take Dak from Week 1 (at Tampa Bay), by most accounts or by this sort of logic—a few, really not much chance to score in Pittsburgh—over and over against Tom and Marty this afternoon anyway; a full slate of plays to look for his future? There are too many short-pass offenses that have come out before and disappeared (Saints, Eagles, Titans) to make his first trip all, no, no.
There might also be time for Dak against the Bills in New Orchard (at least according to my best, short-pass fantasy friends on Twitter): The Steelers have the only quarterback turnover on New York's board so maybe this could push him forward if it's not for sacks, the only blemness he could get.
My opinion: No one—not with those types of plays but against anybody other than that terrible Bills offense—is quite good until late in Week 5 when this happens to some QB, but only time enough until mid-Dec. will have run into this year's "short-term fantasy" fantasy reality and some great chances—especially when you're a pass-rush threat playing on offense like Dallas, to quote.
